Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev secured his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a difficult season, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the American major.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his initial title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface since March of 2023.

Success also means the Russian has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on the playing surface had caused some to doubt if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.

However the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and play positively, supported by an improved service.

The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour championship, took control to push for a decider.

The opponent defended 4 early-game chances in a close deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, he clinched victory with a shot at the net, with his opponent incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
